Remembrance Day 2020
We wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of you for creating the most beautiful poppies and donating to the Royal British Legion. As always the Courthill community has come together and helped raise lots of money for this wonderful charity. As soon as we get a total we will let you know.
Here is a little video to show all the wonderful poppies.
Harvest Festival 2020
This week Courthill have been celebrating our Harvest festival and giving thanks for food which has been grown. Each class took part in a virtual assembly, where we talked about what harvest means to different people and how food is harvested. We also talked about what harvest was like years ago and how lucky we are today to have access to so many different types of food.
Today each year group made their own food display with your donations.
Thank you so much for the generous donations which will be going to Poole food bank.
Thanks again for all of your support.
Remembrance Day 2019
Thank you very much to everyone who made a Poppy for our ‘Courthill Remembrance Poppy Field’. This week the children learnt all about the people who had given their lives in battle during World war One. They were very respectful when completing their minute silence on Monday 11th November 2019.
Below are the photos of our Poppy Field which was displayed in the school hall.
Science Day 1
What an incredible first day for our Science extravaganza! We had Foundation children becoming Paleontologists and searching for fossils whilst finding out lots about dinosaurs. Year 1 had a great day being forensic scientists solving clues at a crime scene, learning about finger prints and DNA. Year 2 became astronauts and went to Space. You should have heard the 'oohs' and 'aahs' when the virtual reality goggles went on!
All three year groups were then treated with a visit from a baby dinosaur and 'Milly' a rather HUGE dinosaur at the end of the day assembly.
All visitors commented on how exceptional our children were and how proud we all must be. Looking forward to more fun and learning from day 2.
Thank you very much to everyone who made a Poppy for our ‘Courthill Remembrance Poppy Field’. The children learnt all about the centennial anniversary of World War 1 and were very respectful when completing their minute silence on
Friday 9th November 2018.
Below are the photos of our Poppy Field which is displayed in the school hall.
I also need to say a special thank you to Mrs Lee and Miss Miller for all their help with creating our wonderful display.
Wow what an incredible week we have had here at Courthill! On Wednesday we were lucky enough to have Jill, from Poole food bank, in for assembly explaining to the children why we celebrate Harvest Festival and how we can all help others by providing them with support and food.
On Thursday morning we saw an influx of food donations and even some beautifully made bread made by Eli’s family in year 2. It was a magnificent moment when all the children and adults came into the assembly and saw the amount of food that had been donated.
In the afternoon the children were so excited to perform their Harvest Festival songs. But little did we know about the huge support we would get from our grandparents. We were absolutely blown away with the turnout, over 100 adults were able to attend and celebrate our wonderful children’s achievements. The children’s singing was outstanding, we heard from foundation ‘Harvest Festival song’, year 1 ‘Cauliflowers fluffy’ and from year 2 an adapted version of ‘Old Macdonald’. The children’s confidence shone through and all of the adults were so proud of them.
It has been a wonderful end to our half term, a huge thank you for all your generous donations to our Harvest Festival. We would also like to thank our lovely PTA for helping us prepare and serve teas and coffees and also our wonderful year 2 children who helped serve biscuits to our guests.
We look forward to celebrating again next year.
