Pupil Premium / Sports Premium Funding
Miss H Lane - Pupil Premium Lead
The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) is a Government initiative that started in April 2011 and it targets support for pupils who are at risk of becoming disadvantaged as learners due to deprivation. Disadvantaged learners are children who have limited funding or opportunity to access the same learning, social, physical or emotional experiences as their peers without additional support being put in place. How the funding is spent is down to each individual school to decide and schools must demonstrate how it has been used in order to support the eligible pupils in reaching their full potential.
The Government has used pupils entitled to ‘Free School Meals’ (FSM) and service children (HM Forces) as an indicator for the Pupil Premium Grant.
They have deployed a fixed amount of money to schools per pupil, based on the number of pupils registered for free school meals (or who have been registered for free school meals within the last 6 years – known as ‘Ever 6’), as ‘Looked After’ children (LAC), as children who have been adopted from care (AFC) and as Armed Forces Service children.
Applications for a Pupil Premium grant are processed by the local authority. If you think you are eligible, please complete the form and email it to office@courthill.coastalpartnership.co.uk and we will send it on to the local authority. What is the PE and Sports Premium Funding?
The Government has provided funding in excess of £150 million per annum to schools to enable them to improve and enhance PE and Sports provision. The funding is being jointly provided for by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and will see money going directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. The money can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.
